Happy 6 Months

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!!

Jake's many expressions!

Happy 6 months baby Jake! Where has the time gone? I can remember just the other day you were inside me kicking me. Then 6 months ago today at 4:14am you made your entrance into the world. Daddy stayed with you and watched the nurses clean you up and take care of you. He held you in the nursery and then when the doctors were done with me daddy brought you to me. I met you and held you for the first time. A moment I will never forget! You are our little miracle, well not so little. You weighed 8lbs 11oz and were 21 1/4" long!! The past 6 months have been amazing. Lots of love, laughing, learning, sleepless nights and we wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Jake you have made us so happy even though you do hog the bed! We cherish every minute with you and wouldn't trade it for anything!!
We love you baby Jake! Happy 6 months my teething monster. Now hurry up and have that tooth come in!!

Where do the weekends go?

Jake's new toy!

Mom come on now...Dad help!

Isn't he cute!!

Our first home grown pumpkin!

It was just Saturday?? Where does the time go? On Thursday we went to visit Aunt Stef and cousins. Jake loves to be held! He is such a flirt. Aunt Stef gave him some new toys which he loves! Thank you! On Friday Jake took a long nap and I was able to work outside in the garden. The weeds were taking over. I was able to get a lot done and get the garden looking pretty good. Even though we lost a lot of stuff while we were on vaction. I still have pumpkins and peppers growing. My tomatoes are finally turning red! Yay, been craving a BLT! I have 2 watermelon plants that are starting to bloom. Phew lots of work but it was a good work out. Plus it feels good to get soemthing accomplished! Thank you baby Jake for letting mommy work! Saturday was a rainy day! It was a nice inside day hanging out with my boys! Jake is loving his apples our new food for the week. He is teething and has his moments. Poor boy wakes up screaming, its so sad to see him like that. I keep looking everyday expecting to see a tooth! Sunday was beautiful. The sun was out but it didn't get too hot. Jeff set up Jake's pool for us on the back porch. Jake and I went swimming. He loves the water. I put him in his baby float and he kept using it as a walker. He was walking all over the pool! Silly boy is ready to move! After our swim we tried on 2 Halloween costumes that were given to us. Thank goodness we did because I barely got Jake in them. He looked so cute as a lion and a pumpkin. So the search is on for a Halloween costume!! Sunday evening we went out to pick up a few things and out to eat at Asian Fusion. Jake is always a hit at that restaurant. He was well behaved and even ate his pears! This morning we ran some errands and picked up our family portraits. Can't wait to frame them. As I type this my baby boy is sleeping in my lap. I cherish these moments! He is growing too fast so I am enjoying every moment I can with him!

News from this week!

Mom and dad not another picture!

Zuki and Jake playing!

Finally, I have blogged our vacation! Phew...that took a lot of time but it was fun! We reunited with the doggies who were happy to see us. When we first got home Jake was sleeping so I put him in our room and shut the gate. Well, Zuki paced the floors until I let her sniff Jake. It was so sweet. She really missed him! Simba didn't leave Jeff's side the rest of the weekend. We picked Haley up on Sunday and she was ready to come home!! All 3 dogs had a blast being reunited after their long week apart! We spent the first part of the week unpacking and catching up on laundry. Jake did great getting back into his routine. He has even slept in his own bed all night twice this week, woohoo! Our new food this week is Sweet peas and of course he loves them. He is very active and loves to be on the move. Boy are we in trouble when he starts to crawl. When he is in his walker he makes his way over to the stove where I have a hand towel hanging on the stove handle. He will look over to see if we are looking at him and then he pulls it off. Its a game now. We hang the towel up he moves over in his walker and pulls it down! He has also started making a kissy face with his lips. Its so cute and I will have to try to get a picture of it. I am packing up the rest of his 3 to 6 month old clothes. He is getting so big and strong. He grabs anything in front of him and he loves to kick. Jeff put him in his new car exersaucer (yardsale $2, watching him have fun priceless, lol) he had a blast. He can rotate the seat around and grab all the toys on it. We are waiting anyday now for a tooth to arrive. It's time for me to go feed our big boy!

August 15, 2009

Our week has been awesome! We were blessed to have wonderful weather, see our friends, meet new friends and make new memories with Jake!! It's sad to say goodbye but I am excited to get home. We got a very early start. We were on the road at 6:45am!! Jake slept most of the way. He is such a good boy!! Thankfully we didn't run into very much traffic. About an hour and half from home Jake did get fussy for a bit. After I fed him he started making some noises and had a very bright red face. Oh no...Jeff is there a rest area coming up? Let me tell you this boy had to go and we were lucky that a rest area was coming up! (We do have video of Jake's grunting, it was too funny!!)

Yay, we are finally home!! Here's to next time OBX!!!

August 14, 2009

Our last day at OBX, boo. We decided to take the ferry over to Ocracoke. Since we were up already with little man we got an early start. We made it to the ferry and were first in line at 7:30am! We had a few minutes before the ferry left so we walked into the visitor center to look around. I was just telling Jeff as we walked in that I forgot to pack me an extra shirt in the truck just in case. No sooner had I said that Jake spit up all over me!! Lesson learned, put extra shirt in truck! Our ride over was really nice and peaceful. I put Jake in his baby bjourn and we walked around the ferry. Once we got on the island Jeff pulled over and we walked out on the beach. You can find some of the best seashells on Ocracoke. Not many people visit the beaches. I got a bag full of shells. I saw in the water a conch shell and I had to get it. For some reason I thought tennis shoes and socks were a good thing to wear over to the island. Needless to say a wave got me and I now have wet shoes, lol. But I did get the conch shell!! After our shell hunting we drove to the end of the island and parked. We put Jake in his stroller and started walking around. We walked down the side streets and to the Lighthouse. It was drizzling the whole time but it made it not so hot. We stopped at one of the stores to get me a pair of shoes (note to self when at the beach keep an extra pair of shoes in the truck). It was really nice to see parts of Ocracoke that we hadn't seen before. We also went to Teach's Hole and walked through there very small museum. (It's not worth the $4, we have pictures to save you the money, lol) We did get a cute picture of Jake at the Teach's Hole! It was almost 11am and Howard's Pub opens at 11am. We have been told that is the best time to get in since they stay so busy. It is the main restaurant on the island. Jake slept the whole time while we ate our yummy food!! Jeff got his hush puppies and I finally tried fried pickles! They were good! After stuffing our faces we drove back to catch the ferry. On our ride back the ferry blew the horn and scared us all. Jake's face turned bright red and he screamed. I covered his ears the best I could and daddy took him and held him close. I think that was the only time Jake really cried our whole vacation. Poor boy! We made it back to the campground around 1pm. We spent the rest of the afternoon packing up some of our stuff, walking around the campground and chatting with people. We spent our last night hanging out next to the sound! We headed to bed fairly early so we could get an early start in the morning home!

Jake and I in front of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse!

A very scary storm cloud over our truck!

More storm clouds!

Awesome clouds!

Another early rising day!! Thank you Jake, we love you!! It's another cloudy day in OBX but all is good. We are on vacation!!! Today we didn't do much at all. It was really nice. We made a quick trip to a nature trail near the Lighthouse. Its 3/4 of mile long and we decided to give it a shot before it rained. We were both not too sure about the huge black cloud over us. We are walking briskly taking in all the beautiful scenery. Skipping over the little marker signs, no time to read since its now really dark outside. I had Jake in the baby bjorn thank goodness we didn't have to deal with a stroller. Half way in we hear this loud sound....its rain headed our way. I take off running and Jeff soon follows. We get back to the truck just before the sprinkles start. Mental note to self when it looks like a storm is coming hiking is not the best choice of activity. We headed over to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Jeff was able to get some awesome pics of the clouds. He was also able to grab a quick shot of Jake and I in front of the Lighthouse. Then the skies opened up. It was a heavy rain and of course traffic was backed up from people leaving the beaches. The nice thing about beach weather is that the storms usually pass on quickly. We got back to the campground after some window shopping and the sun was out! Jake and I walked out in the sound. I put Jake in his float and he loved it. He is such a happy go lucky boy. I hope it continues. He just goes with the flow and so far hasn't fussed about doing anything new. After our walk we pedaled around the campground and talked to other campers. Then we watched the sunset, another beautiful one from our campsite. That night around 2am the rain woke me up, then Jake then Jeff. I have never heard it rain so hard. It was hitting the side of the camper hard. I felt sorry for anybody in a tent that night. It lasted a while too. Finally, I was able to go back to sleep.......Gotta love the beach storms!!
Jake and I in the sound!

Sunset over the sound!

Jeff takes awesome photographs! Now you know why it is so hard to pick and choose!

Mommy Meet Up

Aquarium Pics!

Sunset from our campsite!

This morning we woke up to clouds and rain. It was a perfect day to go to the Aquarium at Roanoke Island. I had planned this trip a few weeks ago, who knew it would be rainy out! We met up with Stephanie/Alyssa and Crystal/Bella. I met them through the mommy board that I joined when I found out I was pregnant. We have shared many experiences of being pregnant, having our babies and the first few months of their lives. It was nice to finally meet in person. The girls were so cute and Jake didn't know what to do with having 2 girls to watch! We had a great time chatting and taking turns holding the babies. Jake loved watching the fish/shark tank! We stopped at the gift shop and Jake/Jeff picked out a River Otter. Jake loves chewing on it and gets upset if you take it away from him. He also got a new book that he loves for daddy to read to him. Jake likes to hold the book and turn the pages. We will for sure take Jake back next year! After our meet up we did a little shopping and headed back to our campsite for some much needed relaxation!! Jeff was able to get a few pics of the sunset that night. I have so many pics its hard picking which ones to include. Jeff took over a 1000 photos of our vacation! AACCKK!!

August 11, 2009

This morning Jake decided that we need to get up before sunrise. He likes to roll his head back and forth slamming it into our backs, lol. He also loves playing with Jeff's face! We were hoping he would go back to sleep but no luck. So after some much needed coffee we headed out to The Point with Jim and Bernie and the kids. Its so much fun driving on the beach! Jeff finds a spot and pulls the truck up. I get out and walk around the truck to him and right in front of the tire is a very deep hole. Someone had fun digging that one out, but very scary to think if we had driven into it. The front driver side tire was lined up with the hole. We filled the hole in right away. We walked over to the point. The most eastern part of the east coast. It was neat taking pics and knowing at that time we were the only ones at the most eastern part of the east coast at that time!! Wow that was a mouthful, lol. It was awesome to see the waves come together from both sides! We got some great pics. Jake also had fun in the water. He kept watching the waves as daddy held him. It was cute because his feet disappeared in the sand. After we watched a few fishermen and looked for some shells and took tons of pics we headed to breakfast. We went back to the Gingerbread House and they sell the best egg biscuits ever. They were huge. We didn't know that and had already eaten our donuts before the biscuits arrived. Oh well we are on vacation! Enjoy it while we can. Jake had fun being passed around the table! We headed back to the campground and said our goodbyes to Jim and family. Then we just relaxed at the camper. We were all pretty tired from being up so early. Jake took a nap and we rested for a while. We were truly blessed to have such a great time with our friends and for awesome weather!!

Daddy and Jake at the museum!

Jake wearing his pirate hat!

Our camper and campsite at Frisco Woods!

This morning we took it easy. I made a yummy breakfast of sausage and french toast. Jeff and Jake played while I made breakfast. After we ate we pedaled around the campground. Some of our friends left that morning so we said our goodbyes. Then we headed to the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. We walked around for a while and enjoyed the exhibits and the a/c. We bought a funny teeth pacifier earlier and Jake was using it at the museum. The stares my poor boy got were funny. Some people didn't know how to respond others just laughed! We then headed over to some shops and enjoyed some ice cream! Jake was tired so we headed back to the campground for him to nap. I did laundry...go figure even on vacation. Oh well, at least it was doing laundry at the beach, lol. For dinner we went to the Gingerbread House and had some pizza. They also make pasties so of course I had to get some for later! After our yummy dinner with Jim and Bernie and the kids we went to play miniature golf. We get down to the course and I look over and Jake's face was covered with mosquitoes. It was so gross. Thank goodness we have a net that goes over the stroller to keep them off of him. The skitters are always bad at the beach but they were really bad at this place. When we finished our quick game of golf we hung out by the sound for a while. Jake sure has enjoyed all the attention from everyone. He isn't scared to be held my others. At least not yet. We are lucky we had another beautiful day at OBX!!

August 9, 2009

Another beautiful day in Cape Hatteras! Jake slept well but he likes to wake up too early. Someone please tell this boy we are on vacation, lol. He is loving having mommy and daddy right there! We are loving it too. He wakes Jeff up by clawing at daddy's face. I think it's pretty funny, not sure daddy does. Today we had another great day on the beach. The weather is perfect. Sunny and a nice breeze to keep it from getting too hot. Jake hung out in his bouncy seat for a while....ate some sweet potatoes...took a nap....and played in his pool!! We also watched a guy make a sand dog. It was pretty cool! Later that afternoon as we are relaxing we saw a beautiful horse. Jeff got some great pics. After our day at the beach we all went out to dinner at the Captain's Table! I had fried shrimp...mmm my favorite! Jake was so good during dinner. He took turns sitting on mommy and daddy's lap. Everyone keeps telling us how quiet he is. Just wait this time next year we will have a 1 1/2 yr old running around. I wonder if they will be commenting on how quiet he is? LOL. We spent the evening sitting outside and chatting with friends. Great times!

August 8, 2009

It was great waking up in OBX!! After unpacking some and settling in we met up with all our friends and headed out to the beach. It is so nice being able to drive out on the beach. Especially since we have so much stuff for Jake! We had a great day on the beach! We all hung out under the canopy watching the beach crowd. It was an awesome day of fishing, swimming and just relaxing. Couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise! We took Jake out in the water some and he didn't fuss one time. He loves watching the waves! Lil Jimmy was at the beach too. He is 10 months old. Jake and him had a blast playing in the pool. After our day at the beach we headed back to camp. We had a great feast that night for dinner. Everyone brought something to cook. We had pasta, salad, fish, hush puppies, hamburgers, wings, smores...mmmm. It was fun visiting with everyone and having yummy food!! Jake slept throught most of it. We have tons of pics from vacation so make sure to check out my facebook page for pics!
