Rolie Polie

Hi everyone! Hope your all doing well! I am a happy boy!
Whoa! What's everyone looking at?

As usual where does the time go? Our days go by to dang fast. Jake hasn't been sleeping through the night and on Monday night he was a mess. I put him in his crib and he would toss and turn. Then he would do his little fake cough. He is a smart boy and figured that is not getting mommy and daddy's attention. So being the rolie polie that he is, he rolled to his tummy and decided it would be a fun game to peek at us. He would pull the bumper down some and peek over it at us. It's so hard not to get upset with such a cutie. Even when we are sleep deprived. Finally, after about 2 hours we got him back to sleep. Last night around 1am a big storm rolls in. Jeff ends up on the couch and I end up with Simba (120 pounds) laying next to my head on Jeff's pillow, Zuki (55 pounds) curled up at my legs and 16 pounder Jake laying beside me. Jeff complains about the couch needing more foam, let me tell you he was a lot more comfortable then I was, lol.
We have been looking to get a new vehicle so we went to a car auction and Jake had a blast. We were worried it would be too loud for him but the Auctioneer started and Jake would get bright eyed and start dancing around. Jeff was holding him and Jake would start stomping. It was so cute! We didn't find a car oh well. After the auction we went to IHOP, yummy! Jake seemed to enjoy our visit there. He likes to be held and take everything in.
He is growing like crazy and rolls all over. He loves petting the dogs now, they are a great distraction for him! He is eating lots of green beans, bananas and cereal. We are trying sweet potatoes this week. We are also busy getting ready for our beach trip. I can't wait. We so need a vacation. We have several families that will be there the first weekend we are there. One of the families has a baby a few months older than Jake. I can't wait for them to meet. Then on that Wednesday we are meeting up with 2 of the mommies and their daughters from the baby board. We are meeting at the Aquarium on Roanoke Island. Then the last part of the week it will be me, Jeff and Jake. I sure am looking forward to spending time with my family!!

Comfy Jake enjoying nap time in his swing!
My All Star boy matching his sheets! LOL!

Some of my veggies from the garden! Look at my little tiny onions, haha!

The Latest Events

Jake is doing great! He loves, loves, loves his walker. He is all over the place in it and I have to keep a close eye on him. He still jumps around in his Jumperoo and I believe its almost time to adjust the height on that. His newest activity is rolling! I caught half his roll on video and its posted on facebook. He rolls from back to the front then he plays on his tummy for a while. He does get frustrated easily and will let you know! In the evenings when Jeff gets home from work Jake just lights up. Its the best thing to see them play together. Jake loves to rub daddy's head. He takes his hands and rubs them all over Jeff's head. He also likes to play with daddy's mustache! Jake has almost out grown his deluxe bathtub. Here lately I lay him on a bath sponge for his baths. He loves to kick the water. I have to be careful because I end up wet. He is going to be a little fish I believe. I think he may be going through a growth spurt. He is eating every 3 hours around the clock. He spoiled us by letting us sleep through the night. Last night I gave him extra milk before bed and he slept 6 hours, woohoo!! He is still nursing but he is also getting some formula bottles. He also likes rice and oatmeal cereal. He gobbles it up. Tonight we tried green beans with him. He loves them! I was really expecting him to spit it out. We took video of that and it is also posted on facebook. He is sleeping right now in his swing. He looks so sweet and so big, lol!! I can't believe he is almost 5 months!!

July 4th 2009

Friday July 3rd we headed for the mountains. We went camping again at Loft Mountain. It is so beautiful and peaceful there. We had a deer that liked to hang out at our campsite. It sat about 15 feet or so from our camper. The weather is always cooler on the mountain but this time it was really cold. Thank goodness I packed warm clothes for Jake. It was in the 50's at night and lower 70's during the day. Jake has a cute black stocking hat that we bought for him when he was a few days old. Well the hat was huge on him and we had to keep folding it up. I thought it would be perfect to bring on the trip just in case it gets cold. It got cold but we discovered that the hat doesn't even come down over his ears. I should have gotten a picture of it. Jeff put lights on Jake's stroller and American flags, he was set for the 4th. Of course we got lots of stares and questions. On Saturday Grandpa and Grandma Cash and us went sight seeing. We drove about 30 miles further on the Skyline Drive to Big Meadows. We checked out their camp ground and had lunch at the Wayside. On our way back we saw a momma bear and her cub. It was so neat to see and Jeff got a picture of the momma. The baby was hiding behind the trees. Jake took cat naps through out the day but was exhausted by the end of the day. He slept well both nights. We had a great time eating yummy food, playing cards and just hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma. We can't wait to go back! Our next trip is to the beach in August, yay!!!

Jake's 4 month appointment

Tuesday (6/30) was Jake's 4 month check up. He weighs 15lbs and 7oz and is 26 1/2" long!! He is healthy and growing like a weed. He did have 2 shots and an oral dose. I held his arms and talked to him and he screamed so loud. I hate knowing he is hurting and I can't do anything for him. I know its for the best because I would rather comfort him after a quick shot then while he is sick. After the shots I picked him up quick and held him. His face was bright red and big tears. It was so sad but yay it's over with. He was fussy that afternoon but took a great nap. We go back in 2 months for his 6 month appt.

Jake has started a fake cough. It is so funny to hear him. He is a smart boy and knows how to get mommy and daddy's attention. I will have to see if I can catch it on video. He is loud when he does it and sounds pathetic. But we are on to his little trick, lol. He has been going to town in his walker. He has now mastered going in all directions. I had to put a gate up to keep him in the kitchen area. He also has been grabbing his toes. It won't be long and I am sure they will be in his mouth. Jake is a drooly bug. Tons of drooling and we go through tons of bibs. Last night we picked out some new chew toys for him. Hopefully that will help him with his teething.

The last few days we have been busy packing for our camping trip. We are going to Loft Mtn for the 4th of July!! I will post pics when we get back!!

Happy 1st 4th of July Jakie! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!!
