Our Visit

Yesterday Aunt Stephanie and cousin Jessica, Trent and Trevor came over. It was a nice surprise! Trent held baby Jake. It was so sweet. Of course Aunt Stephanie and Jessica held Jake too. He was very alert with them. The dogs enjoyed having the boys visit too. Zuki and Simba were crazy happy with the attention.

Jake's Doctor Appointment

Our boy is growing too fast! He weighed in at 13lbs 4oz, woohoo. He gained 2lbs in 3 weeks. He is 24 1/4 inches long. The doctor said he is off the charts for his age in the height department. He must get that from his daddy. I asked the doctor about Jake's eye color. She said usually around 6 months we will know what color his eyes will be. I hope they stay blue like his daddy's. Jake is holding his head up really well and is very alert. When you put him on his tummy he pushes himself up with his arms. It looks like he is ready to take off. I am not ready for my little boy to start crawling yet. Jake had to get 2 shots today. I made the mistake of watching them do one. My poor boy's face got bright bright red and he screamed. It was so sad, I had tears in my eyes. I picked him up right away and held him. Thankfully, the shots are quick and he won't remember them. I put him in his carrier and he was a sleep in 10 mins. We also had to increase his Zantac medicine. With his weight gain the medicine wasn't working for him anymore. Jake has been sleeping all afternoon, I am nervous about how long he might be up tonight. Oh well, he has had a hard day and needs his rest.

A few of Jake's first experiences!

Yesterday Jake and I had to run some errands in town. While we were in town I called Dana and her and the girls and Camden were at Sam's Club. So Jake and I went to Sam's Club to visit with them. We sat under the Gazebo in the middle of Sam's and visited. This was the first time Camden saw Jake and it was so sweet. He fed Jake and talked to him. Camden asked if Jake was going to be a boy like him when he grew up, lol. While Camden was feeding Jake he said, You are my precious angel. It was so sweet! Leah took some pictues so hopefully we can post those later. It was funny to be sitting in Sam's Club visiting. A lady walked by and said this is great advertising you guys sitting under here like this. It was great seeing you Dana, Leah, Lauren and Camden!
Last night we had to go to Louisa to pick up our car and to visit with Jeff's dad. So another first trip for Jake going to Louisa. While we were there I had to feed Jake and well he decided that this would be a great time to have a poopy diaper leak. Another first for Jake, first of many I am sure. Thankfully, I always have the diaper bag packed and it paid off!
We had a very busy day but it was nice to get out and about. After daddy fed Jake he fell fast asleep and we went to bed around 10pm and he slept until 2ish. Yay, mommy got 4 hours straight of sleep!

Jake's First Smile

Last night Jeff was holding Jake and asking him if he was hungry. Jake smiled and cooed twice! It was so sweet. I wish I had the camera. This is one of many first things that we get to experience with Jake.
Jeff and Jake hung out in the "man room" so I could have some time to myself. They both slept for about 3 hours. My sweet boys were tired! I am so lucky to have them in my life!

A productive and eventful weekend.

We had a busy weekend. Saturday we got up and worked in the yard. Jake hung out in his stroller while daddy worked on putting in our new sliding glass door. I worked on hanging out the laundry and cleaning up. All was well until Jeff stepped into a hole and fell. I was hanging up clothes and looked over to see him on the ground on his belly. At first I wasn't sure what was going on but then realized he was in pain. Jeff was able to crawl into the house and made it to the couch. Thankfully Jake was sleeping so I packed his stuff up and kenneled the dogs and drove us to MJH ER. They took x rays of Jeff's ankle and thank goodness no breaks. Jake was a real trooper and only fussed for a few minutes because he was hungry. Jeff spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch with his ankle propped up. Jake and daddy had a good evening hanging out together. I spent the evening taking care of my boys!
Sunday was another warm sunny day. Jeff was able to hobble around and we worked on planting our flowers. Grandpa Al came over to visit and we had a cook out. Jake had an ok day. He was pretty fussy towards the end of the day. He finally fell alseep in his baby bjorn as I walked around with him. Always something going on in the Bogden household to keep me on my toes.! Of course I wouldn't have it any other way!

Our Family

Jeff and I use to work together many years ago. Who would have thought we would meet up again and get married! We were married at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on July 27, 2005. Our all time favorite place to vacation. We live in keswick with our 3 dogs Haley, Simba and Zuki. On February 27, 2009 our family grew when we welcomed our sweet baby boy Jacob Shawn into the world! Our family is complete now!
