Another Snow Storm

Well, we made it through another snow storm. We were one of the lucky ones and only lost power for 5 hours. Stephanie and family came over yesterday because they had been without power a lot longer. She brought over a yummy lasagna and the boys had fun playing. They also went outside to play in the snow for a while. Before long Jake will be running around out there with them. Jeff did make Jake a special sled, a rubbermaid container. On Saturday we were able to take him out for a little while. We pulled him around in the container. Jake kept blinking from the snow falling and he tried licking it. He is such a happy go lucky boy!! Earlier in the week Jake and I went outside to shovel out the mailbox. He hung out in his wagon and watched. After I finally found the mailbox I sat Jake down in the snow. At first he wasn't too sure about it but then he started to play with it. I wish you could have seen his facial expression from tasting the snow. It was too cute! I think we all agree that we are so over the snow. We now have another storm coming on Tuesday and possibly one for the weekend. We are ready for spring!!!
On January 27th Jake turned 11 months old!! We shared the day celebrating Dana's birthday. Stephanie and Grandma Scruggs were able to come over too. We had some yummy snacks and birthday cake. Jake loves all the attention!! He was even giving out his sloppy wet kisses!
Jake has a special bear we made for him before he was even born. Here lately when we play the music from the bear Jake sticks out his bottom lip and cries. Its so funny and sad at the same time. Not sure what is going on with him but I did get it on video!! His new foods are rice which he doesn't real care for yet. Also broccoli which is not a big hit yet. He does love his veggie sticks, mac-n-cheese and chicken nuggets!
Jake got his first boo boo that left a mark! He fell and hit his head on the TV cart. Poor guy likes to hold his breath and scare us half to death. He calmed down after a few minutes and continued to play. He is pushing his walker around more. He also likes to hold onto our pants leg and walk with us. We are working with him on walking but he likes to do things on his own schedule. The big news is that Jake has 3 new teeth. 2 top teeth and 1 bottom one coming in. He has had a rough few days. I got out his travel swing to try to sell...well it turns out Jake still fits in it. His feet hang over it but he takes his naps in it and seems to be comfy. Such a silly boy!!

The Latest News!

Sleepy boy! He fights taking naps but always seems to fall asleep during lunch!

Jake loves Cousin Trent's shoes!
My favorite picture! Jake looking up to his big cousin Trent!
Our sweet boy!!

Maybe one day soon I will give updates more often than every few weeks! But I highly doubt it. Mr. Jake keeps me very busy and I wouldn't have it any other way. Jake is growing up so fast. We have been looking for birthday ideas. Did I just say that, "Birthday!" I can't believe our little guy is going to be 1 in a month. He is learning so much. He has mastered waving hi and clapping. He just started giving five! I was saying high five but he would wave. So I had to change it to give me five. We are still working on blowing kisses! Jake loves to dance. Any music he hears he holds onto the table and starts bouncing and waves his arm. Of course the big news is that Jake took 4 steps!! I know any day now he is just going to walk across the room and I will cry, lol. We are still working on child proofing. Every few days Jake reminds us of what we need to do. We had to buy a toilet lock since Jake decided it would be fun to play in that bowl of water, gross. We have a lock at the top of our front door since Jake can now reach the door knob. Jeff hung up the floor speakers since those got to wobbling when Jake decided they would be fun to push on. We also have a lock on our stove. Jake grabbed the tea towel just right and opened the door. Thank goodness the oven wasn't on. So I moved the tea towel but now he can hold onto the handle of the stove. He also likes to hold onto the kitchen table and swing his feet. Oh and I have to cover the dog's water bowl with a rubbermaid container when we are in the kitchen. Out of sight out of mind...its working at the moment, lol. Jake loves Jeff's computer! Jeff gave Jake his own mouse and remote control and that has helped some. That and Jeff had to gorilla tape all the wires etc down on his computer desk. Now if we could just figure out how to put mini walls around the actual computer...hhhhmmm. Jake likes to keep us on our toes!!
This past week we had 2 days of warmer weather!! Jake and I went on walks and were able to get outside and swing. Now its raining and sleeting on and off. We are so ready for spring!! I think we may have another tooth coming in. Jake has been so fussy the last few days. Believe me he lets us know that he is not happy. He has some great facial expressions. His newest that he tries on us is sticking out his bottom lip. He gets so mad and out goes that lip. When he doesn't want something he closes his eyes and squishes his nose up and turns his head away. One of my favorites is when I vacuum. He starts to talk loudly, well he tries. Its more screaming and its so funny. Jake does not like when Jeff or I leave the room. He always needs to see one of us. Forget about taking a shower. He screams the whole time now. Our little monster boy and we love him so much!! Valentine's Day is coming up...Jake's last first holiday. Bittersweet!! Jake has been playing so well as I type this. I guess I am in for it later, lol. So until next time.........

Happy 2010!!

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Jake's 1st Christmas went well. Although I believe he was pretty overwhelmed with unwrapping so many gifts from Santa Claus. He has plenty to keep him busy for a while. We were able to visit with Grandpa and Grandma Cash, Grandpa Al, Grandma Scruggs, Aunt Stef, Jessica, Trevor, Trent, Aunt Wendy, Ryan, Kourtney and Kaleigh! We had a great time with everyone and are so thankful to have such a wonderful family. Jake received some very special 1st Christmas gifts that we will treasure for years to come.
For New Year's, Jake, Jeff and I watched Ice Age 3! Jake and Jeff fell asleep through the movie. Then I fell asleep. Jeff said he was awake to watch the ball drop. Oh well, there is always next year to watch the ball drop, lol. I couldn't imagine being any other place than with my guys!!

Jake was 10 months old on the 27th. And he officially got his 2 front teeth for Christmas. He now has 6 teeth. No more vampire teeth, boo. It's exciting but sad to see him grow so fast. He is walking really well when we hold his hands. He is also learning to use certain toys to stand up on allowing him to reach higher. Little stinker is smart. I have been teaching him to kiss. He loves to give big wet kisses! We are still working on how to pucker up his lips, lol!

It's time to start planning our little guys 1st birthday!

December Updates!

In a few days Jake will be celebrating his first Christmas! We are so excited and so is he. He has already tried to open a few of his gifts. Christmas morning will definitely be lots of fun with unwrapping gifts and playing with boxes. Don't worry we will take lots of pictures and video.

Jake had his 9 month appointment with his new doctor. He is now 20lbs 6oz and 29 3/4" long. He gained 2 1/2 pounds and grew an inch and a quarter!! We really like his new doctor and we love how small the practice is. Jake is healthy and growing perfectly!!

We found another tooth. We had no idea it was even there until the other day. I was holding him and he was laughing and sure enough his top tooth is almost through. Right now he is my little vampire with his 2 eye teeth coming through. Jeff got a great pic of him yesterday with his fangs. Jake is waving and clapping and crawling and pulling up on everything. He has started to try to climb but hasn't figure it out yet. Which is fine by us, lol. I know soon I will be at work and Jeff will send me a video of our boy walking. It probably won't be much longer. Jake is eating all kinds of new foods. Thankfully he is not a picky eater!

Jake has enjoyed his 1st snow storm. We got 21 inches of snow! We took him out for some photos and he kept checking everything out. Who knew we needed a snow suit. I didn't even bother looking at any because we don't get much snow. We were able to get out to the store yesterday to get a newspaper. Jake's picture was in there for baby's 1st Christmas. The roads are a horrible mess and still are. They haven't even plowed our road yet.

Last night Jake started closing his eyes when he saw the flash from the camera. It was the cutest thing and Jeff got some great video! Our little guy sure is growing up fast.

Jake's 1st Santa Visit!

Santa's Wonderland!

Jake was so sleepy this is how he fell asleep in his car seat on our way home!

On Sunday we headed to the Bass Pro Shop to take Jake to his first Santa's Wonderland. We got there at 1pm. Of course the store was packed! We made our way over to Santa and soon realized that the end of the line was on the other side of the store. It was insane!! So Jeff and Jake waited in line while I went to search for an elf. I finally made my way to the front of the line and asked about the bass pass. You are given a ticket for a certain time to come back to have your picture taken so you don't have to wait in line. She gave me a pass for 3pm. This was at 1:30. So I make it back to Jeff and Jake and then we had plenty of time to walk around the store. We went back at 2:45 to get in line and we were second in line with the bass pass....this was a separate line from all the people who didn't have a pass. That line still went to the other side of the store. I forgot to mention that at 1:30 I put our name down for a table at the restaurant because it was going to be a 2 hour wait. I knew the timing of all this was going to be very ify!! Sure enough we are waiting for Santa to get back from his little break and the restaurant timer starts to vibrate. You have got to be kidding me!!! So Jeff ran over to the restaurant to save our table. Thankfully, our friends Troy and Carol were meeting us at the restaurant and could hold the table for us. Long story short...the restaurant accidentally made our timer go off by mistake. So poor Jeff ran back over to us just in time to see Jake with Santa. I had let a nice family go in front of me while I was waiting for Jeff to get back. Finally, our sweet baby Jake got to sit on Santa's lap!

Jake did great with Santa. He just looked up at Santa and in one picture I wish I could have read Jake's mind. I have one shot with Jake's hand raised and looking at Santa. I would have loved to have known what he was thinking!

Jake was a trooper through it all!!! He just took everything in and not once did he cry. After his picture we were able to get our table. Jake ate like a champ and was so good at the restaurant!!

November 2009

Look real close you can see my top eye teeth!

1 of many silly faces!

My old man face!

My new truck!

Reading the newspaper with mommy!

A few more days and it will be December!! Once again where has the month gone? Jake has been busy this month, along with mommy and daddy! Jake is all over the place. He has mastered the army crawl and will occasionally crawl on his knees. He can pull up on everything and now he has mastered being able to sit down from a standing position. He loves to walk around the coffee table. His newest trick is to step up on daddy's leg so he can climb up onto the coffee table. It's only a matter of time before he figures out how to do it on his own. He also loves to push his walker and other toys around while he walks. He has also learned how to ride his truck all by himself. He knows he has to hold onto something before he can get off of it. So I am wondering how much longer we have before he starts walking?!
Jake has tried lots of new foods! He loves sweet potatoes/turkey, turkey/rice, yogurt, cheese, cheerios, vegetable beef, goldfish crackers, ritz crackers, mac-n-cheese and mum mums!! He ate like a champ for Thanksgiving and had turkey, stuffing, a roll and sweet potato pie with cool whip. He made sure to let me know I wasn't feeding him fast enough. He would jump up and down and say, mamamama while fussing! My silly boy is finally saying mama. He only seems to say it when he needs something. Should I get use to this? Jake is learning to drink from a straw and has a new fancy cup to help with that. He knows how to drink from his sippy cups but needs help with holding it up. He has two eye teeth coming in at the same time. So needless to say we have for sure had our fussy moments and restless nights sleep.
On Sunday nights Jake loves reading the newspaper with me. When I am done with a section I hand it over to him! He sits there for a long time balling it up and tearing it and tasting it. He will get mad if you don't let him have a section when your done! Jake's facial expressions are priceless. His newest one is sucking in his bottom lip and only seeing his top lip. He really does look like an old man. It's too funny! Oh and you better watch out if a Geico commercial comes on. The one's with the googly eyes on the wad of cash. He will stop whatever he is doing to watch it.
We started decorating for Christmas! I was decorating the tree while Jake was napping. As I was finishing up Jake sat up from his nap and looked over at the lights on the tree and he had the biggest smile! It was so sweet! Jeff put up lights outside and it was so fun to take Jake outside when we turned them all on! We got another big smile from our blue eyed boy!! Just wait until Christmas morning!!
Our sweet boy turned 9 months on the 27th! I am sure December will be full of surprises!!

Halloween 2009

Jake sure has been a fussy boy. Not really sure whats going on. He hasn't had his normal appetite so I assume he is trying to get another tooth. He has tried sweet potatoes with turkey and turkey with rice! He likes them of course. We have some YoBaby Yogurt to try next. He is pulling up on everything really well now. His only problem is that he doesn't know how to get down from a standing position. After he has had enough standing he will start to fuss so we have to go help him. If he does fall he cries for a minute and then keeps going. He is a tough boy!

On Friday Jake was so fussy! So I took my chances and took him to town. We went to the library and to Joann's to get some scrapbooking paper. Thankfully, Jake took a power nap on the way to town. After our shopping we met Aunt Stef, Uncle Chris and Trey and Trent at Chick fil a for Trick or Trunk. We ate dinner and then headed over to the Trick or Trunk. It was a really nice event that was safe and free. We watched Trey and Trent jump in the moon bounces and play the bean bag toss game. After the games we walked around and Trick or Trunk and collected lots of candy. Jake did a great job in his stroller watching everyone. Right when we were ready to leave the fire truck showed up. We took Jake over and let him sit in the fire truck. Uncle Chris put the headphones on Jake! It was his first time seeing the fire truck and it was neat that it was Tower 88 the fire truck Jeff use to drive.

Halloween night we met Aunt Stef, Uncle Chris, Trent, Trey and Jessica at the mall. We entered Jake into the costume contest. We arrived at the mall at 5pm and Jake sat in his Harley wagon with his leather coat, hat and sunglasses on. He kept everything on for about an hour as we trick or treated around the mall. Not once did he try to take his hat or glasses off. He loved all the attention and totally played the part of a cool biker dude. He was flirting and smiling at all the ladies. Finally, it was time for the contest and finally they called our number. I pulled the Harley wagon and Jake across the stage area and everyone loved him! They thought his Harley wagon with the Chrome exhaust and lights were the coolest ever. (Thanks Jeff for your creative ideas) Of course your costume made it even cooler! There were about 35 other kids in the contest and we waited patiently for them to announce the winner. They did 3rd place and 2nd place and then we heard FIRST PLACE IS HARLEY BIKER!!! WHERE IS JAKE!!! Woohoo our boy won! Proud mama and papa we were and are!! Jake won a tool set, a stuffed giraffe, candy, a gift card to Auntie Anne's and Red Robin.

On our ride home on Running Deer we passed a gator pulling a wagon full of kids! We had 20 some kids show up at the house. Thank goodness I bought some candy just in case. The bowl emptied fast and Jake had fun watching all the kids. This time next year Jake will join in all the trick or treating fun!!
